Electrical engineering in the digital age is a critical sector for realization of the human dream, and its importance is increasingly growing for humans to enjoy various kinds of industrial developments and abundant life. Therefore, this faculty nurtures creative professional manpower that can adapt to digital technology by hands-on systematic education of expertise combined with digital technology, and they can be employed in a variety of fields after graduation. In addition, it provides a platform of empirical tradition (實事求是) by reflecting technological information about modernization of industrial fields.
Dept. of Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical System at DMU, through continuous development since the admission capacity started at 80 people in1976, has been training about 240 engineers crucial in electrical fields per year composed of 161 students currently attending and 80 from industry-commissioned education. Currently, the Department of Electrical System has about 20 faculty members in total who are continually striving to nurture professional technicians with on-site adaptability to lead this country's electrical industry. 20 members include 9 full-time professors who have outstanding industrial experiences and 12 adjunct professors who are acting as the best expert in the electrical field. In order to nurture manpower for industries, this department focuses on project-type classes and graduation work production, and continuously supports students' study group activities. In DMU, a graduation work production exhibition is annually held in KINTEX, and this department is actively participating in such exhibition. Also, by having made agreements about associated education with outstanding universities like Yonsei University and Korea University, DMU carries out test-free associated transfer system, so graduates of this department can transfer to those universities. In the rapidly evolving industrial development, we are trying our best to nurture professional technicians in the electrical field with more advanced education and practice-oriented education.
Dept. of Information Electronic Engineering
The department of information electronics aims for training professional technicians in the 21st information electronics field. For this goal, the curriculum is balanced from basic to application such as basic electronic knowledge which is necessary in the relevant industrial field, microprocessor application technology, the electronic circuit design and application technology, analogue and digital circuit technology applications, video device application technology, the electronic control technology, various application techniques using computers, etc. Lecture methods help students to get easily adapted to industrial fields through practice and project-type operations. Its another goal is to nurture professional technicians with ability to get used to international society, right manners, and sound vocational ethics who can operate and carry out state-of-art electronic systems. After the establishment of the Department of Electronics in 1975, more than 6000 students graduated from this department until 2012 currently, and this faculty boasts a history and tradition of high-tech industries and activities.
Dept. of Semiconductor Electronic Engineering
Semiconductors are already known as the core technology in almost all electronic systems such as computers, digital home appliances, smartphones, etc. Also the level of semiconductors already reached the level of embodying one system in one chip, through continuous technological development. The Department of Semiconductor Electronics, which was established simultaneously with the full-scale growth of domestic semiconductor industry in 1998, has continuously nurtured manpower necessary in semiconductor-related industrial fields. The demand for manpower in semiconductor industries is expected to grow continuously. Its goal is to nurture superior professional technicians needed in each field in semiconductor industries, by carrying out systematic training about design training, semiconductor process, production and testing instrument, in addition to the basic training in electronic technology.
Dept. of Information & Communication Engineering(3 years)
Its goal is to nurture professional technicians in communication, computers, and networking fields which are the core of the state-of-art ubiquitous technologies which let people to access anyone anytime and anywhere. Accordingly, this department's 3-year major education process is divided into wireless ICT sector and network ICT sector, and this department intensively teaches students professional knowledge an practice-oriented technology of the relevant sector. The wireless ICT sector helps students acquire expertise in various kinds of state-of-art communication fields such as rapidly developing communications, satellite communications, broadcast communications, etc., and provides intensive practice-oriented training in order for them to learn design, measurement, and how to operate equipment. The network ICT sector nurtures manpower with computer systems and networking theories and executive abilities. It especially adopted the world-famous Cisco Networking Academy (CCNA and wireless LAN) program and carries out practice-oriented specialized training closely relate to industrial sites where graduates will work. The department of information & Communication has faculty who have abundant on-site experiences in industries and research institutions such as Samsung, LG, KT, KBS, etc. and also has a lot of expensive state-of-art equipment including 'network analyzer,' ‘spectrum analyzer,' and ‘network protocol analyzer,' This department nurtures proficient technical manpower who have creativity and teamwork through participation learning such as project-type lectures, work production, and study groups.
